Skorpion Zinc and MUN reach agreement on restructuring impacts: retrenchments minimised

Windhoek, 31 March, 2017: Skorpion Zinc Mine, a subsidiary of Vedanta Zinc International, have reached an agreement in respect of the impact of current restructuring efforts, which will see the retrenchments being minimised.
In terms of the agreement reached:
- A voluntary retrenchment process will be initiated so as to minimize any involuntary separations from the company.
- A total of 22 employees will be absorbed elsewhere in the business, as previously agreed.
- Skorpion Zinc will second 192 employees to Basil Read, the terms and conditions of which will be agreed.
- Approximately 43 employees will be retrenched, and will be given preference for opportunities that arise during the voluntary severance process.
The parties are committed to ensuring that the agreement is implemented and look forward to the next phase of mine development at Skorpion Zinc.
