WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Reporting directly to the Biodiversity Manager, the incumbent will be responsible to manage the game farm and the set aside areas by means of ecological condition assessments; wildlife census, wildlife introduction and relocation; erosion management and control; alien invasive identification/mapping/eradication; fence inspections and repairs and installation and maintenance of water points.
  • Conduct ecological and biodiversity monitoring in line with protocols associated with the BMP and CAMP.
  • Interpretation of ecological data and the revision of biodiversity monitoring protocols as required.
  • Identification and execution of research opportunities (internal and external).
  • Identification of areas for the implementation and monitoring of ecological restoration, including research into appropriate techniques and suitable species.
  • Assist with search, rescue and translocation of threatened and endangered plant species.
  • Spatial data management (GIS) with respect to biodiversity monitoring, planning and management.
  • Administration related to permits, plans and tasks.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A BSc Hons Degree in Conservation Ecology or Wildlife Management or Postgraduate Diploma Nature Conservation.
  • A minimum of four to five years’ experience in Conservation Area/Nature Reserve/Protected Area Management.
  • ArcGIS working knowledge.
  • Skilled in Biodiversity monitoring (soil; fauna; flora); Wildlife Management; Data Management and ecological statistical analysis of data; Research and development of papers for publication.
  • Thorough knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office applications and excellent communication skills.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
