Arun Misra has been associated with the Vedanta Group since November 2019. He was appointed to lead Hindustan Zinc, the world’s second largest integrated producer of Zinc & Lead and 6th largest Silver producer in August 2020 . Following this in June 2022, Mr Misra has taken on additonal repsonsibility of managing the operations & growth of Vedanta Zinc International which have their mines and concentrator in South Africa.
Under his able stewardship, Hindustan Zinc, a COP26 Business Leader, has been actively taking measures to tackle climate change and its fallouts. Further, the company has retained its 1st position in Asia-Pacific in the Mining and Metal sector and is in the global top 5 rankings of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index 2021.
Prior to joining Vedanta, Arun started his career with Tata Steel as Maintenance Head (Electrical), West Bokaro Coal Washery in July 1988. He has 33 years of rich and diverse experience in Tata Steel, where he headed various strategic positions. In his last assignment at Tata Steel, Arun Misra worked as Vice President — Raw Materials Division and led crucial portfolios like Plant Operations, Mining Operations, and Safety & Project Management.
