WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for development and review of the slope designs using the latest numerical modelling tools to enhance safe pit designs.
  • He/She will manage rock mass characterization to develop pit geotechnical models and derive geotechnical parameters for slope stability calculations(mapping and updating of geotechnical database).
  • Manage Slope stability systems and personnel and ensure adherence to slope stability and TARP SOP’s.
  • The incumbent will take part in accident/incident investigation related to slope or bench failures.
  • Manage pit slope conformance evaluation based on mining vs designs.
  • Carry out administrative duties like reviewing and updating relevant policies and procedures in line with governance principles and changes required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Chamber of Mines Rock Engineering Certificate (Open Pit Certificate will be an added advantage).
  • BEng Mining/BSc Geology or equivalent qualification.
  • 3 Years operational experience in the Geotechnical space is required within an opencast working environment with strong slope numerical modelling & design and management of a slope monitoring systems.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
