In a bid to make a solid contribution towards the healthcare of the rapidly growing town, Skorpion Zinc contributed more than N$4 million to the rehabilitation and upgrade of Rosh Pinah State Clinic and construction of a satellite facility at Tutungeni.

The town clinic was built as part of a partnership between Skorpion Zinc and the Ministry of Health to complement the government’s new mandate to expand health care services. The project, completed in 2012, replaced a previous healthcare system that only had ‘visiting’ doctors come twice a month.

Skorpion Zinc is proud to have echoed the government’s efforts to increase the intake of future medical practitioners at the University of Namibia and the investment in the Rosh Pinah State Clinic is in direct response to that and the needs of the community. In 2012, at the opening ceremony, the then Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, Mr. Kahijoro Kahuure, thanked Skorpion Zinc for community investment.

“Nowhere in the world can government work alone to delivery services to the people and needs private companies to come on board and take up the challenge,” said Mr. Kahuure.

With the assistance received from Skorpion Zinc, the clinic is fully equipped, has three permanent nursing staff, and provides medical services, including HIV/Aids testing and counseling and immunization programs, to members of the local community. Skorpion Zinc collaborated with the Ministry of Health to provide the Dental Health Awareness campaigns which saw more than 2 000 people, including children, receive free dental check-ups and treatment.
