Udaipur, January 2021: Hindustan Zinc’s Pantnagar Metal Plant has bagged the “GreenCo Bronze” rating instituted by the CII-Godrej Green Business Centre for undertaking environmentally sustainable practices and efforts to reduce environmental footprint. With this rating, the Pantnagar Metal Plant has become the first plant in the company to be certified as a Green Company.

Hindustan Zinc believes in innovating for a sustainable future and constantly pursues ways to be more responsible towards environmental conservation. The company has adopted several environment-friendly practices continuously invests in technology to make its operations more sustainable. This recognition is a testament to the perseverance of the Pantnagar Metal Plant team to become a green company leader in the industry and continuously work to reduce the environmental footprint.

The CII GreenCo rating certification assessment is done by evaluating certain modules like – Energy Efficiency, Water Conservation, Renewable Energy, GHG Mitigation, Waste Management, etc. based on which a rating is offered. Pantnagar Metal Plant met all the requirements in accordance with the GreenCo Rating System and was rated “GreenCo Bronze” under Version 3 of the GreenCo Guidelines. The HZL team at Pantnagar has demonstrated excellent performance through several initiatives driven along with a committed and encouraging management.

CII GreenCo Rating System acts as an instrument to measure a company’s current stand on the environmental front and also helps in deciding the next steps towards becoming further environmentally sustainable.
