Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) has been certified as a Top Employer in South Africa for the second year consecutively by the prestigious Top Employers Institute. VZI is a grouping of zinc assets located in South Africa and Namibia and owned by one of the largest diversified resources companies in the world, Vedanta Limited.

The Top Employers Institute is a recognised organisation that certifies companies across 121 countries based on a detailed HR Best Practices Survey covering 20 topics and 6 domains. This comprehensive evaluation, which includes an independent audit, has recognised over 2,300 top employers for their exceptional workplace practices.

Chris Griffith, Vedanta Base Metals CEO, commented: “We are honoured to have received this recognition once again. The people are our best asset in delivering our company’s rapid growth. One of our HR philosophies is to invest in our talent and leadership to ultimately create an ecosystem that fosters leadership from within.”

This recognition highlights the company’s efforts for the best HR, people and workplace practices including Talent Strategy, Workforce Planning, On-Boarding, Learning and Development, and Diversity and Inclusion, among others.

“At VZI, we have a dynamic and diverse workforce of more than 4,000 people directly and indirectly. In the mining industry, typically known to be male-dominated, we are working around the clock to ensure an inclusive workplace with a key focus on the employment and career advancement of women. We are determined to have a workplace that is safe, secure and inclusive with equal opportunity for all our colleagues,” Griffith concluded.

Becoming an employer of choice in its region is one of VZI’s top priorities in line with the company’s vision, and receiving this recognition shows that the company is well underway to achieving this vision.
